A Promise Kept: Avuyile's New Start
Weeks ago, at the Mafa Bavuma Foundation Easter Sport Festival in Alicedale, we met Avuyile — a young man who finished 3rd in the kwiFun Run running barefoot, in jeans, on courage alone. We made him a promise that day.
On Saturday, the Mafa Bavuma Foundation, in partnership with Lesaka EasyPay, delivered on that promise — handing over clothing and household essentials to support Avuyile and his family.
Our sincere thanks to every donor who contributed clothes and other items, and to Lesaka EasyPay for partnering with us to make it happen.
Looking ahead: on 19 September, Avuyile will take the start line in a professional race in Gqeberha — his first. Heartfelt thanks to Mike Mbambani and Ikhamva Athletic Club for adopting Avuyile, nurturing his talent, and giving him the opportunity to run with dignity.
